About Armenian Premier League
The Premier League is the strongest football division in Armenia.
The tournament was founded in 1992, immediately after the collapse of the USSR.
Before that, the Armenian Championship was held as a regional tournament in the USSR.
The most titled club of the Armenian Premier League is Pyunik, which has won gold medals 16 times.
The only non-capital club that has become the champion of the country (4 times) is Shirak from the city of Gyumri.
Places in the Armenian Championship are divided as follows:
- 1st place - Champions League qualification;
- 2-3 places - Conference League qualification;
- 11th place - relegation to the First League.
