About AFC U-23 Asian Cup

AFC U-23 Asian Cup is an international football competition held biennially by the AFC for men's national teams of the Asian region under the age of 23. Previous names for this competition were AFC U-22 Championship (in 2013) and AFC U-23 Championship (between 2016 and 2020).

The tournament is linked to Olympic qualification every two years, as it was in 2016 and 2020, where the top three teams qualified for the games.

The first edition was going to be held in 2013 and qualification matches would took place in 2012, but due to the 2013 EAFF East Asian Cup, the finals will take place in 2014.

Changing its name from AFC U-22 Championship to AFC U-23 Championship in 2016, the tournament was renamed as the AFC U-23 Asian Cup in 2021.
