The Cup (as well as the championship) of Argentina on football is the only one in CONMEBOL, where the season is held according to the "autumn-spring" (calendar) system.
The winner was Atlanta, who beat Racing 3-1 in the final.
In 1969, 32 clubs participated in the Copa Argentina competition: all 19 Primera División clubs, the winner of Primera Nacional, 12 Regional League champion teams.
The winner of the tournament played in the 1970 Copa Ganadores de Copa.
In 1970, the Cup was not officially played after a draw in the final and the refusal of the clubs from the second game in connection with the announcement of the 1971 Copa Ganadores de Copa as a friendly, in which there was no Argentine club afterwards.
In 1993, the Copa Centenario de la AFA started. The winner was Gimnasia y Esgrima from La Plata.
The final took place on January 30, 1994. In 2011, it was decided to revive the tournament for a large number of clubs in Argentina (about 180) following the example of European national cups.
In addition to the Primera División clubs, clubs from six more leagues participated in the cup. Boca Juniors became the winner of the tournament dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Argentina's independence.
The Copa Argentina, officially known as the “Copa Argentina AXION energy” due to sponsorship reasons, is an official football cup competition organized by the Argentine Football Association (AFA).
The Copa Argentina was founded in 1969 and relaunched in 2011.
The Copa Argentina involves 64 teams.
The winner of Copa Argentina qualifies for the Supercopa Argentina against the reigning champions of Primera División.
